Pro-Life: A One-Woman One-Act

SYNOPSIS: There are many ways to save a life. Meet Cheryl, a figure of feminine fortitude from a forgotten town in Appalachia. Cheryl understands how precious life is. When hers gets turned upside-down for the second time, she faces a seemingly impossible choice. This play is inspired by The Janes who organized and operated an underground abortion network operated by women for women before Roe V. Wade. A story of sisterhood and showing up.
This production was originally intended as a live performance in April 2020. COVID had other plans. The world premiere was filmed live at Theatre Off Jackson in two short hours and streamed in April of 2021, one year delayed.

ARTIST BIO: Alyssa Franks is a creator and performing artist. Her original work celebrates the progress of equality in this country and aims to empower the divine feminine in all of us. She received her MFA from the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program and her BFA from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in the UK. She has been seen on stages in the US and UK. Alyssa teaches Integrative Alexander Technique, Yoga, and Meditation.
